Rest in Peace Mike Tewnion

Today is a very sad day for the Ecocleen Family, we have lost one of our longest standing Regional Directors, Mike Tewnion.

Today we lay him to rest after he sadly lost his battle with cancer. Mike can be described as a loving husband, supportive father and an absolute gentleman, a man who acted with the utmost integrity in his personal and professional life.

Mike has been a true Ecocleen brand ambassador and we will continue to build on his solid foundation and legacy. We have decided to honour Mike by renaming the Franchisee of the year award: ‘The Mike Tewnion Franchisee of the Year Award’.

Mike will be strongly missed by everyone that knew him. His colleagues, his staff and his customers have all sent through some very touching messages. Here are just a few….

This has been upsetting to hear. Mike is a lovely man and the " Best Boss " I have ever had in over 25 years in the cleaning industry.’

Mike Tewnion, Tees Valley Ecocleen 1954 - 2017

I knew from the day we were introduced that you were a man I would respect and look-up to and I looked forward to getting to know you better and, as time has passed these words proved to be true. My thoughts are with your friends and family during this difficult time’

John G – Ecocleen North East London, Regional Director

‘We had only known mike for a few years with the company but we found him kind and friendly, the news of his passing left us with great sadness as he will be a massive miss to everyone.’ David and Isabel (Ecocleen team members at Durham student union)

‘Dear Mike, thank you for being so welcoming when I first met you at the network meeting you made me feel really welcome and have always been the perfect gentleman in all of our dealings and I am pretty sure in your dealings with everyone, I only wish our areas had been closer so I could have learnt more from you. Any advice you have given me over the years have been of great help to me. Take care Mike, your family must be enormously proud of you. All my very best now and forever more.’ Blaize Rhodes – Ecocleen Dorset, Regional Director

‘Mike was a pleasure to deal with and utterly professional in his approach. Quite often contractors don't understand the companies they supply and we as a charity have found this a barrier to good communication. However, Mike always seemed to know what we needed and was able to be flexible enough to provide us with it.

Above all he was a friendly man so we were really saddened to hear of Mike's illness and passing.

I would like to extend our sympathies to Mike's family on behalf of everyone at Groundwork NE & Cumbria’

Bill Oxbrough, Administration and Facilities Manager, Groundwork NE & Cumbria

‘Mike, I would like to thank you for all the advice, friendship and great ideas you have had to advance the network, you have built a very successful business and I was always striving to catch and surpass you. It was great to see you at the last meeting, and our thoughts are with you and your family as you travel the journey of life my friend... Kia Kaha Mike’ Andrew Alleway & David Moncur – Ecocleen Scotland, Regional Directors

‘We are all very sad to hear of Mike's sudden passing. Mike was a wonderful boss, he always had time for his employees and was always approachable, kind and friendly to all the team, he was a true gentleman. We send our love and deepest sympathy to his family at this very sad time. Rest in Peace Mike, Much Love from the all of your cleaning team at St John Vianney's in Hartlepool.' Kay Jefferson

There’s really no words, but I was happy to be able to speak to you a couple of weeks ago and share time with you. You have been such a great friend and colleague to me during our time in Ecocleen, especially where we started this journey so close to each other. I really do treasure our time working in this crazy industry together and being in it for such a long time. I’m so sorry Mike. Your one of the most decent people I have ever met. ‘You are probably unaware when I spent time with you on the stand at the franchise show in Birmingham, the way you operated your business and the care you had for your staff and customers made a lasting impression on me. "Dear Mike
We would like to take this opportunity to share and celebrate with you all the wonderful experiences
we have spent together. During the past 5 years since joining the Network, first as Franchisees in the
South West of England and in South Wales; currently also as the Franchisor, you have stood out as the
“Best Brand Ambassador” any brand or company can aspire to, or dream to have.

Well done mate, you have done yourself proud. You have been an untold pillar of strength to our
network and always available on the other end of the phone to offer support or advice, when needed.
You have always engaged your mind first, before putting your mouth into gear. A sign of a man with
deep thoughts, of true character – what you see is what you get and not to forget; always the perfect
gentleman.

To this end, we have decided to honor you and your contributions to our Network, by dedicating all
future awards for Franchisee of the Year, an award which you are no stranger to; to you by naming
the award the: “Mike Tewnion Franchisee of the Year Award” Our prayers and thoughts are with you
during this time. Go well - You are a true champion.

We love you.
